Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon’s latest film Bhediya has taken a dip in revenue over the past four days, according to early estimates. On Monday alone, the revenue dropped by 45-50%. Collecting around Rs. 3-4 crores per day means there isn’t much hope for this movie at the box office over time – unless it can climb back up to an average of around Rs. 5 crores per day soon.
Bhediya has seen a drop at both the country’s single screen theaters and inside theatres where people were already paying full price tickets. With Bhediya targeted to metropolitan audiences, this result would’ve been expected. But somehow, it seems those who had already paid for tickets were not happy with Bhediya. Worse yet – according to Box Office trends over last four days – the word of mouth on the ground is actually pretty bad; much worse than what it appears online. There are no clues about whether or not Bhediya will make back its budget; but one thing’s for sure: Bhediya is definitely going to have a tough time surpassing Rs.70 crores if current results continue without change.
The business has been mildly impacted by Drishyam, but it seems as if the on-ground reports are not accurate enough to make up for what was lost from having less viewers. As we’re near the end of this week, Monday should have had an estimate of Rs. 5.50 crores; however, it is impossible now because there were only just over Rs. 1 crore worth of tickets sold at cinemas today instead of an estimated 3 crore tickets worth of receipts.
