Hatta Dam & Why It’s A Favorite For Kayaking

Hatta Dam, Hatta Lake or Hatta Water Dam – whatever you want to call it – offers a simple picture perfect escape in the heart of the Hatta Mountain Conservation Reserve. This remote destination provides sanctuary against all the hustle and bustle back in Dubai.
Away from crowds walking around, away from pollution hanging thickly over head, away from street noise filling every nook and corner – tranquil would best describe my current state of mind. A mere image of these blue waters and lush green vegetation behind them has been seen as an icon to me ever since my first glimpse at them through unsuspecting eyes.

The destination is described with many positive words including pristine, exquisite, picturesque, tranquil, and so much more. And while I’ve just listed the most popular ones here – you could likely find them all in one sentence if you were to dig deep enough! But what makes this place truly special isn’t just how absolutely breathtaking it looks (though don’t get me wrong – it totally is!) but also because of all the activities it offers. One could easily spend an entire day kayaking around the lake thanks to Hatta Kayak, who offer rentals for visitors.

Where to stay when visiting Hatta is only a quick car ride away from the lake. Hatta Dam Reviews

Spent a good couple of hours Kayaking around the dam. It was really tranquil and good value for money as you can paddle away for as long as you like.
Equipment was clean and in good order.
This will be a regular visit for us now.

This was an affordable and amazing experience spending hours kayaking through the rivers of Hatta alongside my loved ones. Though we didn’t see many animals, it was still worth it! Remember to pack a change of clothes and waterproof bags for your electronics when you go!

On the National Day, we visited Laolong Dam and although it was crowded on that day – we were still able to enjoy some of the views. We had been told by a friend who had been before us, that Laolong is first-come-first-served. They advised us not to wait in line, as one might do at other tourist attractions; instead just grab an available vehicle when you arrive if one has become free during your stay. And they were right! There were always plenty of vehicles around the lake when we needed them. This time though, since I am short and could barely reach the pedals (much less pedal!), my husband helped out by riding behind me – pedalling away for both of us! Just be careful about your height if you plan to rent water bicycles too – seats are not adjustable here.

My second trip to Hatta Dam was much different than the first. This time I went kayaking and hiked, my favorite pass times for trips like these. When we watched the sun set last night it had been nothing short of breathtaking – probably one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. The best part is when it falls between two mountains – it feels so surreal every single time! Even though it’s been a while since I’ve really researched other activities at Hatta Dam, something told me there were kayaks available which helped give me an idea what boat would be suitable without having to guess.
There are four different types of boats available – kayaks, pedal boats, electric boars, and water bikes. Despite chaos during the National Day celebration last year, this area is now much more organized. Family groups can purchase tokens after paying for them. Once they’ve been called, the group boards one boat at a time from the designated stations in order to keep crowds from becoming too overwhelming. On either side of me there were pedal boats on my left and electric boars on my right; near where I was standing were kayaks – some close enough for me to grab onto if need be.
Last time I couldn’t go for the ride because at 6 o’clock it was closed. This time too, due to traffic, I reached by 5 o’clock and though I didn’t get to go on the rides this time, when we checked down below they were open 24 hours! Not sure why since it was national holidays but as soon as we realized that there wasn’t anyone else around except us – we were very happy. We enjoyed going around in circles on our pedal bikes while Sis-in-law and brother-in-law came along with us. A definite recommendation!

We’ve always come here as a family, where we’ve found plenty of good times and exciting adventures. The area is well-designed for parking and shuttles to take you all the way to the dam before giving you recommendations tailored specifically for your needs from there.
Conclusion
And so we’ve come to the end of our discussion about Hatta Dam. Enjoy looking at it, taking part in physical activities such as kayaking, biking or walking–and bask in your achievements when you’re done. If you’re staying at JA Hatta Fort Hotel in Dubai, I would recommend hiking there too. This is one of the best places for exploring hikes and mountainsides–it’s an up-to-date favorite spot among tourists who are visiting Dubai; so if you don’t know anything about Dubai yet but want to find out more information on what it has to offer, please visit here first.
