Released earlier this week, Bellbottom received rave reviews from critics and has enjoyed some positive feedback. However the Covid-19 restrictions along with its late Wednesday release resulted in a low turn out at theaters. Despite this, however, it looks like business is going well for the movie now that people are starting to come back due to holiday breaks (Onam + Rakhsha Bandhan).
But on its first Monday in theatres, much like films that released pre-Covid times, Bellbottom witnessed a dip in collections. In fact, Bellbottom managed to collect just Rs. 1.8 cr on its first Monday release. Interestingly, the business of the film saw nearly 30% decrease in collections from multiplexes while single screens that started off slower were able to maintain business thanks to some territories in northern India celebrating Rakhshabandhan–a festival similar to Diwali which had begun last week–and still holding steady with Bellbottoms’ opening weekend earnings coming close at Rs. 14.55 cr as opposed to what was initially anticipated–Rs 45 Cr; thus making it possible for this latest release be ranked among one of Bollywoods biggest weekend openers ever!
