Badhaai Do had satisfactoryfigures on Saturday, collecting Rs. 2.72 crores – better than the Rs. 1.65 crores it brought in on Friday. However, the movie needs to keep up its momentum in order to achieve success, and it has the talent of Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar on its side; both of them have had plenty of hits previously.
The film hasbeen significantly affected by the imposed curfew, given its genre would naturally attract larger crowds during the late evening and night shows. Nonetheless, with the final screening commencing at 7 pm, there has been an apparent effect, particularly in the Delhi NCR region, where there is a stronger acceptance of the movie due to its regional subject. Other states, such as Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, are also allowing 100% occupancy, yet the movie has failed to draw much attention in the south. However, there is still some hope of success in the northern part of India.
Both the Delhi and Haryana governments been considering the relaxation of night show restrictions and a full theatre occupancy, but the decision must be made soon to make an impact on Badhaai Do’s opening week. At present, the film has earned Rs. 4.37 crores, but much more must be accumulated before the second weekend to make up the distance.
