The newly released film Badhaai Do, a sequel to the previous release of Badhai Ho, was met with an understandably tempered reception from critics and audiences alike – but it does seem that this won’t end up affecting its box office performance too drastically. After all, after just one weekend at theaters – numbers show that Saturday and Sunday ticket sales have grown 64.85% and 26.84%, respectively.
In this Box Office Report, we take a look at the opening weekend collection of Badhaai Do while comparing it to Bhumi Pednekar’s past films. After collecting Rs. 7.82 crore, Badhaai Do ranked as one of Bhumi’s top five openings weekends grossers so far. Although its business is nowhere near the figures collected by her previous films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha which collected Rs. 51.45 crore or Bala that earned Rs. 43.95 crore; it still manages to do better than Pati Patni Aur Woh which earned only Rs 35 94 crore or Shubh Mangal Saavdhan that made only Rs 14 46 crores so far due to its release earlier this month – though it certainly can’t compete with Dum Laga Ke Haisha, which collects just about rs 8 12 crores or Saand Ki Aankh which makes just about rs 2 47 crores since both were released earlier last year
Currently, Badhaai Do continues to run, with expectations that the movie will continue running successfully this Monday on account of Valentine’s Day. However, it is predicted that there will be a significant drop in viewership starting next week.
