Taapsee Pannu has graced the big screen with her return this year in Do Baaraa, a thriller directed by Anurag Kashyap. A remake of the Spanish film Mirage, this movie was released yesterday in theatres and tells an intriguing story which spans over 26 years. Boasting elements of horror, mind-boggling theories and even time travel – it offers viewers a novel cinematic experience!
As the film hit the screens in overseas markets as well, the Day 1 numbers at the Australia box office were disastrous to say the least. The movie sold less than 10 tickets to collect 88 USD [Rs. 7,032] at the close of Day 1.
Although reviews have been ambivalent, it is only with the passing of time that we will understand the film’s performance at the box office. Its fortunes will also be adversely impacted by last week’s two big releases – Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan – both of which are proving to be disastrous in cinemas.
