Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior is enjoying an incredible reception at the box office. Though it has been screening for two weeks already, this movie is still earning nearly half of what it made on its opening day (Rs. 15.10 crores). Yesterday alone, Tanhaji earned Rs. 7.09 crores more, which was no small feat considering there were many films released during this time period. If Tanjai can maintain this performance today, then Om Raut and his team will surely be satisfied with the amount they managed to pull in this week- even if they are nearing their end date!
The film has made Rs. 190.43 crores so far but it isn’t too far off from the Rs. 200 Crore Club milestone. With its rapid progress, there’s no doubt that the film will soon be eligible for this prestigious award which only 12 films have managed to accomplish before; especially because it has been able to rise above all obstacles set in place just as skillfully as they are eliminated by iconic figures leading soldiers in battle during the Indian Independence Movement – such as Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru- when they were fighting for their country’s freedom against British rule during World War II.
Meanwhile, the blockbuster hit has already achieved lifetime records of other major Hindi-language movies. Within thirteen days, it surpassed the earnings of 2.0 (Hindi) [Rs. 189.55 crores], Bajirao Mastani [Rs. 188 crores], and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani [Rs. 188.92 crores]. By tomorrow, Ek Tha Tiger [Rs. 199 crores] will also fall behind Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior which is currently closing in on those movies sitting at Rs. 200 Crore club after only twenty one days of release.]
