Thor: Love and Thunder has made great strides and is well on its way to joining the elite Rs. 100 Crore Club. Historically, 10-15 centuries were scored in the Hindi film industry every year, whereas in the Hollywood scene, it was much less common. Nevertheless, in these post-pandemic times, Marvel films have been a source of delight for all as they have been constantly setting and breaking records. With Thor: Love and Thunder ready to make its debut, the movie is expected to be a sensational success and be welcomed with open arms into the illustrious Rs. 100 Crore Club.…
Neither HIT – The First Case nor Shabaash Mithu experienced a successful weekend at the box office, as neither films garnered significant numbers. Additionally, there was very little progress seen over the weekend. Consequently, the current theatrical performance gives us a clear idea that both of these films will be out of theaters within a week and its reception on streaming platforms will be watched closely, as that is where their core target audience lies. The Rajkummar Rao starrer achieved an impressive feat by crossing the Rs. 5 crores mark over the weekend, but unfortunately it barely managed to reach…
Following a critically panned opening weekend, HIT – The First Case’s box office earnings were absolutely abysmal during the weekdays. After a dismal Friday, the film managed to improve slightly on Saturday; however, Sunday collections were virtually unchanged. It became apparent that Monday would be disastrous for the Rajkummar Rao-starrer, yet it still came as a surprise that the figures could not even reach Rs. 0.75 crores, considering Friday’s collections had already reached Rs. 1.35 crores. Evidently, the film had completely crashed. The reason why it wasn’t too unexpected when collections continued to drop on Tuesday is due to the…
After Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and JugJugg Jeeyo, finally, a Hindi movie is being released which carries a pan-India appeal, not catering to just the classes or gentry. In fact, no Hindi film since KGF: Chapter 2 could create the same amount of mayhem at the box office, leading to a rather dreary week-to-week situation for Bollywood. As such, it would be a wonder when the next Hindi film that can truly evoke the same ‘mayhem’ at the box office will be released. Even so, there may yet be hope in the form of Shamshera’s release this Friday. This film can…
Sadly, for the Hindi film industry, there is another major commercial flop to be seen at the box office. Shabaash Mithu is one of the several Hindi films which have failed to generate the anticipated interest among audiences and thus is destined to be withdrawn quickly with much lesser collection than expected. Initially, expectations had been high that the film would open with collections around Rs. 1 crore. However, on the opening day, it did only half of that. Further, hopes of a recovery over the weekend dissipated as the movie continued to struggle. Eventually, any hopes of a recovery…
Ranbir Kapoor has made his return with Shamshera, and its advanced tickets have been on sale for over a five-day period. In this action-packed entertainment venture, Kapoor stars alongside Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. On Wednesday night, the movie’s bookings were only mediocre, having sold around 23,000 tickets at the three major theater chains – PVR, Inox and Cinepolis. It is estimated that it will likely sell between 60,000 to 65,000 tickets in total. It was widely assumed that the film would outperform Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in ticket sales, having achieved a million sales, however, expectations quickly shifted…
Today marked the much anticipated release of the Yash Raj Films production Shamshera starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. Following a slew of promotions and generating huge excitement, the movie was released across a massive 4,350 screens within India. After the huge buzz it created, expectations for a spectacular opening for Shamshera were understandably sky high. Reports that have come in indicate that the movie has indeed made a satisfactory debut. With an occupancy rate estimated at 15% during the morning and early afternoon shows, this restrained turnout is attributed to the fact that Shamshera was released widely…
The Friday of last week saw two Bollywood films debut – HIT – The First Case and Shabaash Mithu – with high hopes, but they soon came crashing down, with only Rs. 10 crores in the final box office outcome. Even in their wildest imaginations, this wasn’t the kind of outcome that one would have anticipated given the promising credentials of both films. Neither could draw in the crowds in their opening, and there was a complete lack of momentum over the weekend and then, in the weekdays. It was an utterly underwhelming performance from both films. Although both films…
The star-studded Shamshera featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt has unfortunately started on a slow note at the box office. Early estimates indicate that the film garnered a mediocre collection between Rs. 9.50 and 11 crores on its opening day. This dismal result raises serious concerns about the film’s future success and if it will be able to surpass the lukewarm response of YRF’s previous venture, Prithviraj, featuring Akshay Kumar, which turned out to be a colossal failure. The beginning of Shamshera was quite slow, regardless of the makers settling for a low ticket price. Evidently, the viewers were not…
All eyes have been on the eagerly awaited Ranbir Kapoor starrer, Shamshera, since it was announced. Directed by Karan Malhotra, this movie has gained attention not only because it stars Ranbir in dual roles, but also Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. The release of the film yesterday brought about the questions: has all the anticipation and publicity around the movie helped to drive its success at the box office? Released on an impressive 1200 screens worldwide, the Yash Raj Films’ production of Shamshera seems to have made a positive impact. In this report, we take an in-depth look at Shamshera’s…
