Ajay Devgn is back in theaters this week. This time, he stars alongside Abhishek Pathak (director) for the much awaited sequel to his hit film from last year, Drishyam (meaning mirror). So far, it has been gaining a healthy number of pre-sales across various showings around the country due to its engagement with viewers already familiar with Ajay Devgn’s work. As of Tuesday evening, over 33 000 tickets had been sold at these three national chains – PVR, Inox and Cinepolis.
It is worth noting that out of the total 33,000 tickets, there were about 30000 tickets on days when Drishyam 2 was running its discounts. After just two days left before release date, it is crucial for Drishyam 2 to gain some momentum and aim for at least 70000 ticket sales by Thursday night. If we hit over 70000 booking numbers then there is no doubt the film will open with tremendous success; but if we drop below this mark then its fate hinges solely upon how well theatrical screenings are doing in terms of sales numbers.
The trailer for Drishyam 2 was well received, and there seems to be high hopes that this will turn out to be a riveting thriller from Ajay Devgn and his team. If the word of mouth is positive, then Drishyam 2 could emerge as a successful venture. There has been interest in this film so far- as evidenced by its early booking in the first few days – but it’s now time for drishyam 2 to pick up steam and put up a healthy final advance booking figure. If things go well with regards to ticket sales over the next few hours or so; its evening and night show timings on Friday might also see some success too!
