Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 3 suffered a minor drop on its second day as Friday’s earnings were said to be in the range of Rs. 16.50 to 17.00 crores. The two-day total for the film was 34 crores, and it is now heading towards a 55 crore plus weekend which would suffice for a good performance. However, what seems more alarming than anything else are reports that multiplexes also saw a fall due to lack of interest from audiences; people who attended screenings reported feeling bored during halftime breaks between movies and speeches made by celebrities at award ceremonies.
Although no one can really comment yet on whether this means anything negative until we see how it fares over the next few days after gathering momentum through Wednesday (Holika Dahan) onwards, these numbers should ideally be around par with or slightly higher than what they were when they opened earlier this week – instead they’re going downwards quite fast without any signs of slowing down anytime soon either way.
The impact of the corona virus scare has been measured at 5-6 crore on ticket sales, with some pushing the blame on a mere scare for any slight underperformance. However, other reports from around the country show mixed feelings about the movie – it’s clear to see in both ticket sales and ratings so far. If we can make up the difference of about $150 million (Rs 900 cr) by next week then this will be a success story for everyone involved – distributors Fox Star Studio, production studios and exhibitors.
