After Gully Boy (2019) achieved over Rs. 100 crores, there is some hope that Ranveer Singh will again join the Rs. 100 Crore Club with 83. However, expectations are high for this film; at least we had wanted Kabir Khan’s latest project to earn more than Rs. 150 crores and up to Rs. 200 crores total just so it would be considered a box office success as well. It will likely fall short of both goals but might still end up being over Rs.100 crore which is still quite impressive!
This has been made possible by the good jump that the film has seen on Saturday, what with Rs. 7.73 crores coming in. With the kind of opening day that the film has scored (Rs. 12.64 crores), a number like this on the 9th day was definitely not coming. After all, the start was not quite in line with either the expectations or merits of the film; but somehow it still pulls people through to see it for some reason or another since Rs. 83.96 crores have come in as of now – and even if it can’t win at boxes alone, at least its putting up one helluva fight!
83 is still the highest earning film of the day, even though there are more people watching films like Pushpa (Hindi) and Spider-Man: No Way Home. If only 83 had earned as many tickets in its first week than it did in its second weekend – then being a box office success would have been assured instead of just being possible.
