Starring Ranveer Singh, 83 was released towards the end of last year on December 24th domestically in Indian theatres only. Internationally, however, the film opened three days earlier – on December 23rd – taking 1512 screens across 80 different countries worldwide, collecting $1.57 million USD [Rs. 11.8 crores] on its opening day (Day 1).
This number surpassed expectations and was even able to collect more money than blockbuster Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi which had been released internationally two days earlier and yet had one less screen available for viewing because Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home also debuted this weekend with an astonishing 3376 total screens across 168 countries around the world; including India where most screenings were sold out already.
The day wise box office collections in the overseas market of U.A.E / G.C.C are as follows:
Day 1
U.A.E – 391,651 USD
G.C.C – 90,843 USD
Day 2
U.A.E – 153,694 USD
G.C.C – 89,444 USD
