The Kabir Khan-directed Ranveer Singh starrer 83 released on December 24th, during the Christmas Eve celebrations. The film is based on India’s iconic 1983 World Cup win that took place at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. With many people looking forward to this release, it remains unclear if this hype will lead to people coming out to theatres and eventually having enough money for the movie tickets.
In this Box Office Report, we take a look at the first day earnings of 83 while comparing it to Ranveer Singh’s previous releases. Collecting Rs. 12.64 cr on its first day of release; it becomes Ranveer’s seventh-highest first-day grosser film. Heading up that list is his past films like Padmaavat with its collections at Rs. 24 cr, Simmba with its earning value being Rs. 20 72cr, and so forth which all outperform what 83 has gathered on its very first attempt. On the other hand, for now, it seems as though there will be no victory celebration for 83 since it still struggles behind some of Ranveer’s older films like Dil Dhadakne Do with an earning value of Rs 10 53cr, Befikre at Rs 10 36cr and finally Kill Dill with earnings coming in at 6 53crs
Despite competition coming from the previous two releases, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Pushpa: The Rise, the new Ranveer Singh film 83 is expected to maintain its current success. In fact, expectations are high that this latest release will see even greater growth than before.
