This Friday marks the release of Ek Villain Returns, the second installment of the Ek Villain franchise. With Riteish Deshmukh, Siddharth Malhohtra and Shraddha Kapoor as its lead stars, expectations were high. Initially, it was predicted to make a modest debut with single digit numbers, yet, to everyone’s surprise, the film made an astonishing entrance in the double digits and eventually achieved the prestigious status of being a part of the Rs. 100 Crore Club. Frankly, it was an unexpected but well–deserved success, largely attributed to Mohit Suri’s brilliant direction and a number of chartbuster songs.
Now John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria must be eagerly anticipating a similar response to Ek Villain Returns, with the addition of the tantalizing seduction factor that promises to draw the masses. It remains to be seen how successful the film will be; as the current climate of audience interests can not be predicted, and so it all depends on the reactions that will begin to roll in from Friday afternoon onwards.
Despite the anticipation, it is not possible to underestimate the brand reputation that Ek Villain has constructed in recent years. Hence, the movie will be able to garner some kind of a positive response, if not a positive response. Analysts believe that a starting collection of 6-8 crores is within the realms of possibility, and this amount can rise significantly if the film is capable of offering engaging entertainment. This is the hope the trade is pinning on.
