श्री राम तीर्थ मंदिर अमृतसर
शास्त्रों के अनुसार महर्षि वाल्मीकि का जन्म शरद पूर्णिमा के दिन हुआ था। इसलिए पंचांग के अनुसार वाल्मीकि जी के जन्मोत्सव के रूप में हर साल आश्विन मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की पूर्णिमा तिथि को वाल्मीकि जयंती मनाई जाती है। रामायण महाकाव्य के रचयिता महर्षि वाल्मीकि को आदिकवि के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इस साल 9 अक्तूबर को वाल्मीकि जयंती मनाई जा रही है। हिंदू धर्म में वाल्मीकि जयंती बड़े धूमधाम से मनाई जाती है। इस अवसर पर मंदिरों में पूजा-अर्चना, कीर्तन आदि का आयोजन किया जाता है।

इस दिन महर्षि वाल्मीकि की भव्य शोभा यात्रा भी निकाली जाती है। उनके साथ लव-कुश और माता सीता का भी गुणगान किया जाता है। उत्तरी भारत में पंजाब राज्य में अमृतसर से 11 किमी. दूर अमृतसर-चोगावा रोड पर प्राचीन व ऐतिहासिक धार्मिक स्थल श्री राम तीर्थ मंदिर स्थित है। यह मंदिर भगवान राम को समर्पित है। न केवल इस मंदिर का, अपितु इस पावन स्थली का भी इतिहास रामायण काल से जुड़ा है। यहां महर्षि वाल्मीकि का आश्रम और एक कुटी (झोपड़ी) स्थित है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि श्री राम द्वारा माता सीता का परित्याग करने के पश्चात ऋषि वाल्मीकि ने उन्हें इसी स्थान पर अपने आश्रम में आश्रय दिया था। तब माता सीता ने यहां इस कुटी में ही निवास किया था, इसी कारण इसे माता सीता की आश्रय स्थली भी कहा जाता है। यहीं पर लव और कुश का जन्म हुआ था।

महर्षि वाल्मीकि ने रामायण की रचना भी यहीं की थी। इसी आश्रम में उन्होंने लव और कुश को शस्त्र चलाने की शिक्षा भी दी थी। जब श्री राम ने अश्वमेध यज्ञ के लिए घोड़ा छोड़ा था, तब इसी स्थान पर लव-कुश ने उस घोड़े को पकड़ा था और श्री राम के साथ युद्ध भी किया था। इस मंदिर के समीप ही एक सरोवर है, जिसे बहुत पावन माना जाता है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि इस सरोवर को हनुमान जी ने खोदकर बनाया था। इस सरोवर की परिधि 3 किमी. है और इसके आसपास अनेक मंदिर बने हुए हैं। दूर-दूर से श्रद्धालु और साधु-संत यहां स्नान करने आते हैं। सरोवर के चारों ओर 30 फुट चौड़ा पथ बना हुआ है, सरोवर में स्नान करने के पश्चात भक्त इस सरोवर की परिक्रमा करते हैं। यहां एक प्राचीन बावड़ी भी है, माना जाता है कि सीता माता यहां स्नान किया करती थीं। इसे माता सीता की बावड़ी कहा जाता है। इस बावड़ी में स्नान कर नि:संतान महिलाएं संतान प्राप्ति की प्रार्थना करती हैं। मंदिर के समीप ही प्राचीन श्री रामचंद्र मंदिर, जगन्नाथपुरी मंदिर, राधा-कृष्ण मंदिर, राम, लक्ष्मण, सीता मंदिर, महर्षि वाल्मीकि जी का धूणा, सीता जी की कुटिया, श्री लक्ष्मी नारायण मंदिर, सीता राम मिलाप मंदिर जैसे प्रमुख धार्मिक स्थल स्थित हैं, जो हमे रामायण की याद दिलाते हैं। बेघर लोग इस मंदिर में आकर ईंटो के छोटे-छोटे घर बनाकर मन्नत मांगते हैं कि हमें अपने घर की प्राप्ति हो। कार्तिक माह पूर्णिमा के दिन श्री राम तीर्थ मंदिर में चार दिवसीय वार्षिक मेले का आयोजन भी किया जाता है।
Shri Ram Teerth Mandir Amritsar
According to the scriptures, Maharishi Valmiki was born on the day of Sharad Purnima. That’s why according to the Panchang, Valmiki Jayanti is celebrated every year on the full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month as the birth anniversary of Valmiki ji. Maharishi Valmiki, the author of the epic Ramayana, is also known as Adikavi. Valmiki Jayanti is being celebrated on 9th October this year. Valmiki Jayanti is celebrated with great pomp in Hinduism. On this occasion, worship-worship, kirtan etc. are organized in the temples.

A grand procession of Maharishi Valmiki is also taken out on this day. Luv-Kush and Mata Sita are also praised along with them. 11 km from Amritsar in the state of Punjab in northern India. The ancient and historical religious place Shri Ram Tirtha Mandir is located on the Amritsar-Chogawa road. This temple is dedicated to Lord Rama. The history of not only this temple but also this holy place is related to the Ramayana period. Here Maharishi Valmiki’s ashram and a kuti (hut) are situated. It is believed that Sage Valmiki gave shelter to Mother Sita at this place after she was abandoned by Shri Ram. Then Mata Sita had resided here in this hut, that is why it is also called the shelter of Mata Sita. It was here that Luv and Kush were born.

Maharishi Valmiki composed the Ramayana here as well. In this ashram, he also taught Luv and Kush how to use weapons. When Shri Ram left the horse for the Ashwamedh Yagya, it was at this place that Luv-Kush caught that horse and fought with Shri Ram. There is a lake near this temple, which is considered very holy. It is believed that Hanuman ji had made this lake by digging it. The circumference of this lake is 3 km. There are many temples built around it. Devotees and sages from far and wide come here to take bath. A 30 feet wide path is made around the lake, after taking bath in the lake the devotees circumambulate this lake. There is also an ancient stepwell here, it is believed that Sita Mata used to bathe here. This is called the stepwell of Mata Sita. Childless women pray for the birth of a child by taking a bath in this well. Major religious places like ancient Shri Ramchandra temple, Jagannathpuri temple, Radha-Krishna temple, Ram, Lakshman, Sita temple, Maharishi Valmiki ji ka Dhuna, Sita ji ki kutiya, Shri Laxmi Narayan temple, Sita Ram Milap temple are located near the temple. Which reminds us of Ramayana. Homeless people come to this temple and make small houses made of bricks and ask for a vow that they get their own house. A four-day annual fair is also organized in Shri Ram Teerth Temple on the full moon day of the month of Kartik.
