As Christmas fades away and people head back home for the holidays, I’m left here feeling lonely. Box office numbers say otherwise though: Ram Setu had done fairly well this past week despite being released during the holiday period, so at least I know there will be some people coming back to watch my film after they’re done visiting family this week. But then when you consider how badly Thank God had been doing in terms of attendance- even worse than before – it seems obvious what’s going on here.
Let’s talk about Ram Setu first. Taking an opening of Rs. 15.25 crores, it has already dropped to 8.75 crores on the third day (Thursday). Numbers should have been at least in double-digits for Thursday itself but that hasn’t happened yet; however, there are still hopes for increased earnings during Saturday and Sunday depending on Friday’s earnings which will determine whether this film will be successful or not) prior to this occurring, we need to see what the box office returns are like for Friday which will give us a sense of stability – so far they’re only down 10%-15% which is nothing too bad comparatively speaking).
Thank God started off at Rs. 8.10 crores and has come down to around half of that amount on the third day at Rs. 4.15 crores coming in instead; again, collections should have been upwards of Rs. 5 crore on Thursday but with this not happening today, we can only wait and watch what happens from here onwards after which it becomes too difficult for Ram Setu to break free from its downward trajectory – having already gone below the Rs. 4 Crore mark; it’s still uncertain if anything would happen beyond this point or if things will just continue going downhill from this point onwards without any hope left whatsoever; up until now, Ram Setu has collected Rs. 35.40 crore at the box-office while being targeted towards making over ₹60 crore before Sunday ends yet it looks like doing so is highly unlikely considering where things stand right now.
