विशेष विशेषताएं: भगवान हनुमान की पांच मुख वाली (पंचमुखी) मूर्ति के मध्य में भगवान (पूर्व की ओर) भगवान नरसिंह (दक्षिण की ओर), भगवान आदिवराह (उत्तर की ओर), भगवान गरुड़ (पश्चिम की ओर) और भगवान हैं। पक्षों पर हयग्रीव (आकाश का सामना करना)। आपको यहां भगवान राम और उनकी पत्नी सीता की मूर्तियां भी मिलेंगी।
किंवदंती: रामायण युद्ध के दौरान, राक्षस राजा रावण ने एक अन्य राक्षस, महिरावण या मयिल रावण की मदद मांगी। इस राक्षस ने खुद को विभीषण (भगवान रावण के भाई जो भगवान राम की तरफ था) के रूप में प्रच्छन्न किया और भगवान राम और उनके भाई लक्ष्मण को मारने के लिए पाताल लोक जाने के लिए छल किया।

ऐसा कहा जाता है कि मयिल रावण को मारने के लिए, भगवान हनुमान को एक साथ पांच दीपक (कुछ किंवदंतियों में पांच ततैया कहते हैं) को बुझाना पड़ा था। भगवान हनुमान ने इसे पूरा करने के लिए पंचमुखी हनुमान रूप धारण किया। ऐसा माना जाता है कि इस मंदिर का स्थान वह स्थान है जहां उन्होंने इस रूप को प्रकट किया था।

रोचक तथ्य:
माना जाता है कि इस मंदिर में तैरते हुए पत्थरों का इस्तेमाल पौराणिक रामसेतु पुल के निर्माण में किया गया था।
यह श्री रामनाथस्वामी मंदिर से 2 किमी दूर स्थित है।

Special features: The face of the five-faced (Panchamukhi) idol of Lord Hanuman has the Lord in the middle (facing east) with Lord Narasimha (facing south), Lord Adivaraha (facing north), Lord Garuda (facing west) and Lord Hayagriva (facing the sky) on the sides. You will also find idols of Lord Rama and his consort Sita here.

Legend: During the Ramayana war, the demon king Ravana sought the help of another demon, Mahiravana or Mayil Ravana. This demon disguised himself as Vibheeshana (Lord Ravana’s brother who was on Lord Rama’s side) and tricked Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana into going to patala loka to kill them.
It is said that to kill Mayil Ravana, Lord Hanuman had to extinguish five lamps (some legends say five wasps) all at once. Lord Hanuman assumed the Panchmukhi Hanuman form to accomplish this. It is believed that the location of this temple is the place where he revealed this form.

Floating stones believed to have been used to build the legendary Ram Sethu Bridge are kept at this temple.
