If you’re trying to find an up-to-date style of braiding without it being a chore, then look no further than Nipsey Hussle’s tresses. Seen frequently in performances and music videos, this rapper is known for sporting these large and thick strands. They’re often made more voluminous with help of extensions – which only adds to the attractiveness of this trend. Born Airmiess Joseph Asghedom on August 15th, 1985; this Los Angeles native passed away just last month when he was shot in the head while at a party near Ladera Heights.
Nipsey Hussle was first introduced to rap music when he made his debut mixtape Slauson Boy Volume 1 in 2010. Beginning with this release, he spent the next few years putting out more of these projects (including The Marathon and The Marathon Continues) before releasing his breakthrough album Victory Lap in 2018. In 2017, Nipsey started a clothing store called Marathon along with a coworking space called Vector 90. Both stores’ events were met with critical acclaim and commercial success.
Top 8 Inspired Nipsey Hussle Braids
Nipsey Hussle was a famous rapper who established himself with distinctive lyrics and styling. One such distinct feature that Nipsey had was his trademark braid which varied in length, but always remained visible no matter what direction it faced. As Los Angeles’ rap scene grew alongside him, so did Nipsey’s legacy as the west coast hero; but no amount of fame could ever take away from Nipsey’s extraordinary dedication to his craft or willingness to do whatever it took to make sure people stayed entertained. Today we’re going to go over some of my favorite hairstyles from this man who never ceased to amaze me with his creativity and uniqueness, even when it came down the simplest things like hair.
1 – Simple and Easy to Wear Stitch Braids
These braids of Nipsey Hussle are small, tight and neat. The strands can be done in any color of hair. Stitches braids are small braids that can also be done on any part of the head. These strands are created by weaving each strand around one or two other strands before moving onto the next one until it is complete. When finished this way, these braides look clean and precise with no stray hairs poking out from underneath.
To get started, make sure you have all your supplies: one or two bags of hair extensions depending on how much coverage you want, the weave cap and some bobby pins. First, separate the extensions into equal parts so you’ve got enough for each side of your head.
Now, it’s time to start braiding one extension into each braid. It is recommended that you use either your hands or a comb if this seems less difficult for you. Keep in mind – the more extensions we will be using, the fuller the bun will appear. Once all four braids are complete, pin them up with bobby pins and make sure there aren’t any loose strands sticking out from under your cap! Now put on your hat and go about your day – remember not to forget about taking care of your hair every now and then!
2 – Fully-Long Trend Braids
Whether you’re looking for a bold change or just want something easy, the fully-long trend braid is the perfect choice. Like Nipsey Hussle Braids – this style features loose waves of hair weaved into a tight plait with a natural finish. This looks amazing on anyone and even greater on people who are losing their hair because it gives it the illusion of being thicker and fuller. The best part is that these will stay in place all day long!
Here’s how to do it: Sectioning off one’s hair might seem tricky at first but here are some steps on what you need to know. Divide the hair into three sections- left side, right side and back (see below). Next, divide each section into three more sections where they will all be even. Repeat this process again so that there are six parts now. Repeat this process once again so there are nine parts of equal size.
Next, take the left side braid and start braiding it towards the center of your head. When you get to about halfway up your head, gently tug out some pieces from each side and add them into the braid so that it becomes fuller looking on top than at the bottom. Repeat this for all three sections of hair on either side of your head until they are all beautifully voluminous.
3 – Sleek and Clean 6 Feed-in Braids
6 Feed-in Braids is a hairstyle based on Nipsey Hussle braids that has its own name because of the intricacies involved. First, two heavy plaits are made out of three strands each and then intertwined around themselves to make for an extremely hefty braid. After this, six other thin plaits are added, doubling up in size as they go. Once all eight plaits are made, they’re wound together tightly to complete the style – one with a tight weave at the base and a more open top knot so you can wear it high or low down over your shoulder blades.
This hairstyle is constructed by first dividing the hair into two separate sections. Then, feed three strands of hair over one of these sections and through to the opposite side. For example, if you had 6 sections of hair and wanted to make a 3 feed-in braid out of it, you would divide your hair into 2 sections and then do this 5 times so that each side has 1 strand going through it – which now equals 3 pieces total. These 3 pieces are what create the final product – a 6 feed-in braid!
4 – Bold Short Braids
First, let’s talk about short hair braids which were inspired from Nipsey Hussle braids. If you have short hair and want to try something new, there are many types of cute styles that would work with your current length – one being a braid in front of the other or even around all parts of your head! Either way, you’ll end up with an ultra-cool hairstyle perfect for summer!
To get this look, all you need to do is wash your hair and then apply a light moisturizer so that it isn’t too dry. This will help keep your hair from getting tangled up in the braids (and make them easier to remove). Next, grab some bobby pins and divide your hair into sections. You’ll want to separate each section into two or three pieces depending on how big your braid is going to be.
Once you have all of your sections separated, start braiding! Start at the bottom left-hand side of your head and work your way up through each section until you reach the top right-hand side of your head (or wherever else you want your braid). Once there, just keep on going until all of your braids are done!
Finally, let them dry overnight before taking them out because they’re going to be really snug the moment you put them on- so don’t take them off for a bit!
5 – Fresh and Cool Box Braids
If your looking for a change of pace, try box braids. Made up of squares-shaped sections, this type of braid gives loose dangling against tight cornrows. This versatile hairstyle is perfect if you’re looking to add volume and thickness without too much work involved. Although they look neat when styled, there are just so many different ways one can wear them – on top or underneath both sides, across the front and not in ponytails; under long layers; around an updo for an elegant wedding look and curly afros near the crown area to finish off afro twists!
To style these yourself it may take about two hours with ample experience but still only needs shampooing prebraiding because once complete any knots loosens after some time. Starting at the base of the neck, gently divide sections where desired then create three separate parts: 1) middle 2) outside 3) deep inner part starting from roots.
Once all of your hair is plaited, tie it off with an elastic band or two so that it stays put. You can also use clips if you don’t want it tied up. Make sure everything is secure before proceeding to style – else you may end up getting stray hairs scattered everywhere! It’s time for the fun part now; styling! To get volume and body out of box braids, spritz some volumizing spray or powder on the roots once they are washed – this will give weight to the hair and make them look prettier.
6 – Unique and Neat Zig Zag Braids
There are many variations of these intricate and neat zig-zag braids. All of them share this one similarity; when you look at someone’s hair, it will have an alternating pattern going from left to right, which resembles the appearance of a zig-zag design. You can either do this by creating separate braids that switch directions, or intertwine two different ones together to form just one. These braids are perfect for people who want to try out something new but aren’t patient enough or skilled enough to master more complex designs.
To create this braid, you will want to divide your hair in three equal parts. Take one section of hair and then cross it over the middle part which is in front of it. Then take another section of hair and cross through the middle part, crossing over the piece that is already there. Keep repeating these steps until all of your hair has been braided together!
7 – Vibrant Twisted Cornrow Braids
This hair inspired Nipsey Hussle braid is a loose twist of long braids that curl around at the ends. Great for short-to-medium length hair, this easy style can work with all types of hair types but especially favors those with thinner or finer locks; not only does this give fuller looking hair but it adds dimension to your overall look!
To create this hairstyle, you’ll need a medium-sized section of hair at the front of your head. Ensure that your sideburns are brushed out before beginning to braid – this will make things easier. Starting from the front of your head and roughly 1 inch away from your part, take a strand of hair measuring around three inches long and divide it into three equal parts.
Take one part and cross it over the other two sections so they form a y shape with the middle section at the bottom point of the y. This will be where you start braiding from. Braid each layer until you reach its end then secure them with elastics or bands as desired (don’t forget to brush out all flyaways!). You can let your plait hang loose or tie up into a ponytail whichever way suits you best!
8 – Modern Mix-Matching Braids
Mixing small, medium and large braids together has been around for some time. It is all about being able to create different styles with one haircut which can be mixed up according to what you need or want. A mixture of many tiny strands of hair are arranged in a way resembling an animal print with some very thin braid patterns but also having bigger strands of hair woven through it too.
To style mix-matching braids, start by brushing the hair down. This will make it easier to braid it later on. Then divide the hair into sections based on which type of braid you want to make: tiny, small or big. For each section of hair, use a different color rubber band so they’re easy to tell apart! Begin by creating smaller tight braids for tiny braids; then create larger loose braids for bigger ones – leave plenty enough space between those knots and don’t tighten the elastic while wearing them.
Once your done wrapping all your hairs up in loops towards one direction, cross the right side of one loop over another loop – continue doing this until all loops are crossed. To finish off this look follow up with a ponytail high at back of head or just let strands hang naturally down front if you prefer.
Remove one rubber band from this end of the braided hair and place it under all three pieces before tying off again with another rubber band at the other side of the new inch or so that has been added to your braided hair. Repeat this process until you reach your desired length for a single strand of braided hair!
