Recently, HEROPANTI 2 has garnered an astonishing response through its pre-booking process. It came as a complete shock to the Hindi film industry when they learned that ticket sales were highest in theaters with higher prices such as PVR, INOX and Cinepolis – despite the fact that these theaters represent only 17% of total screens in India. As per current reports, PVR, INOX and CINEPOLIS have accounted for nearly four crore rupees in revenue alone after twenty-four hours!
Despite being a mass movie catered towards single screen audiences, it seems to have stimulated enough interest from multiplex patrons this time around. This Thursday will reveal where the opening day box office figures are heading – if you’re anxious about what happens from here then stay tuned…
In an ideal world, the Rs. 4 crore advance at national chains should close at about Rs. 8 to 9 crore for the 3 chains by midnight of release day. With this advance, a high opening range of around Rs. 20 to 25 crores is likely – but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens when it comes down to things like Spot Bookings on the last day of release!
The advance start is something worth commending; in fact, this film has registered the highest advance of any Hindi film over the past three decades. It surpasses the total cumulative advance of Bell Bottom, Antim, Bachchan Paandey and Gangubai. Advance sales are greater than those of Sooryavanshi too – which was released without any form of advance due to friction between exhibitors and distributors.
Preliminary response to the advance screenings in national theatres match those seen for pre-pandemics like Kalank, Super 30, Saaho, Good News and Dabangg 3 – all registering higher rates than Tiger’s latest release Baaghi 3.
One day before its release, Baaghi 3 has so far sold about 40,000 tickets for advance booking at national chains. As for Heropanti, which released simultaneously with Runway 34 – it has already garnered an astounding 1.1 lakh ticket sales so far; around 3 times the amount of advance ticket sales achieved by Baaghi 3 despite there being a clash between both films!
