Yesterday marks the premiere of Bunty Aur Babli 2. This sequel to an immensely successful film was hotly anticipated but only garnered about Rs.4-5 cr worth of income due to mixed reviews and a lack of positive word of mouth. As if this weren’t enough, it seems that during Guru Nanak day – usually regarded as one of the busiest movie days in Bollywood – there were no lines outside cinemas showing Bunty Aur Babli 2.
The film amassed just over Rs2.6 crores on its first day while its predecessor accumulated almost three times as much (Rs2.68 crores). What baffles us most is how such an eagerly awaited film could do so poorly against all odds while still releasing during what would be considered its prime time; during which people flood cinemas expecting some laughs and entertainment at least for a few hours after work ends or school begins for the day – yet both options are available in abundance elsewhere than here…
With only six days left until the premiere of John Abraham’s new film Satyameva Jayate 2, expectations for Bunty Aur Babli 2 are dim. If anything, trade predictions expect Akshay Kumar’s Sooryvanshi to perform better than this newer release. Experts believe that over this past weekend and beyond, it will best both Bunty Aur Babli 2 and the latest release in terms of performance.
