Pop titan and two-time Grammy nominated band, BTS finished up their three nights of ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – SEOUL’ at Seoul Olympic Stadium on March 10th, 12th, and 13th. Attendance reached 45,000 people who were attending in compliance with COVID-19 protocol for a maximum capacity of 15,000 per show. The number of online viewers reached 1.02 million from 191 countries/regions on March 10th and 13th through the live stream events.
On the second day (March 12) an alternative experience was offered when they hosted a live cinema broadcast called ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – SEOUL: LIVE VIEWING’ where they presented it in 3,711 cinemas in 75 countries/regions meeting approximately 1.4 million viewers which included sell outs across the globe.
On March 12th of 2022, an anticipated event happened for BFT (Bangtan Boys) and their fanbase ARMY in India. People were able to see it live by visiting a cinema property in 25 different cities, or they could watch the recorded version at 6PM later that same day. A report from Bollywood Hungama gives details about what the box office looks like after this one-day event.
One competition came from The Batman which had just been released by Hollywood during this time. As well as Indian movies such as The Kashmir Files and Gangubai Kathiawadi which were being screened during this time period; but because these only played for a few hours during this one-day event, it was still bigger than expected. Prices ranged from Rs. 500 per person to Rs. 1,200 per person in one city or even going up to Rs. 2,000 + depending on how many people went together – so there were nearly no seats left unfilled!
BTS performed twenty songs including ON, Black Swan, DOPE, DNA, FAKE LOVE, Life Goes On, Dynamite, IDOL and Butter. Setlists varied from one show to the other while they played both old tracks, Anpanman and Go Go, in order to keep things energetic during the live-streamed second day of their South Korean concerts. The entire audience (composed mainly of ARMYs) was seen hugging one another when these beloved classics were sung.
They also sang along with every song, roared out loud during solos or when BTS spoke English on stage about how much they loved India too; this energy fueled them so much that some people would scream until they lost their voices!
BTS was announced to be attending the Grammy Awards 2022 as nominees and performers, making it two years in a row they’ve been recognized. They’re considered for an award, and presenting a solo performance on the stage again this year; just like they did last year when they played Dynamite to a packed crowd at the GRAMMYs before being brought up to the roof in Seoul for the best view of their city.
They’ll have four days’ worth of concerts (from April 8-16) called BTS Permission To Dance On Stage – Las Vegas followed by Live Play In Las Vegas, which will be held at Allegiant Stadium during daytime hours. On top of that, fans can catch them performing live via streaming video online on YouTube or Facebook Live once a day (April 16th).
