Early estimates say that the third installment of Street Dancers jumped in revenue on Sunday to about  16.80 – 18.30 crores which brings up the estimate for the opening weekend to about 40 crores. The film stars Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, and Nora Fatehi which had an above average debuting weekend despite Sunday doubling up as a national holiday where collections should have reached at least  20 crores but fell short by five. This weekedâ€TMs total would be higher if it didn’t face  competition with Tanhaji while screening through Maharashtraâ€TMs circuits.
For now, its a waiting game situation as the Remo D’Souza directed movie is pricey investment and a healthy earning pattern from Mondays will be needed to reach breakeven. A 50 crore opening weekend would have been good foundation for respectable lifetime earnings over 100 crore, but right now it looks to settle much below the desired figure- however its too early to predict what the long term earnings might look like. A 100 crore plus gross box office takings are required before being able to say that this was an overall successful film release.
Recently released movie Panga has performed quite well in terms of collections over the holiday weekend, earning 6.90 to 7.90 crore and with a low opening yet maintaining good momentum through its continued surge. Panga needs to make significantly more income by next Monday so that this mediocre performance doesn’t become too apparent when being compared against other films debuting at similar time periods. There are currently high stakes placed on how this film does financially as Kangna Ranaut is playing the leading role opposite Rajkumar Gupta – but also because it’s new fresh content for Hindi cinema watchers starved for something different among their usual heavy topics such as poverty, rural life and society biases against caste and gender social roles inherent within some Indian communities; issues often touched upon but never fully explored by Bollywood fare before.
Tanhaji collected roughly Rs.12.65 to 13.65 crore on its third Sunday, and missed out on setting a new world record for Bollywood films with the most collections during this period.
