This Friday, movie lovers are in for a treat with the release of three new films – Jawaani Jaaneman, Happy Hardy and Heer, and Gul Makai. Amongst these, Jawaani Jaaneman is likely to have the largest release as it has, on average, acquired up to 6 shows in the majority of multiplexes, significantly more than that of Saif Ali Khan’s solo starrers, like Laal Kaptaan, Kaalakaandi, and Chef. It even surpassed Baazaar.
The film’s promotion has been very effective, and the positive vibes and cheerful atmosphere has ensured that it is widely noticed. Furthermore, at multiplexes there is very little competition, so if the movie turns out to be great, its growth over the weekend could be extraordinary. As of now, the initial collection is expected to be 3 crores.
Happy Hardy and Heer, a Himesh Reshammiya film, has tremendous strength in its music and good cinematography from primarily outdoor foreign locations. Starring Himesh in a dual role, this movie is certain to attract a dedicated audience. A few years back his movie The Exposè was released and it performed exceptionally well at the box office. The actor is likely expecting the same success for this one, and would be delighted if the opening day box office numbers amount to around Rs. 50 lakhs.
The week’s third release, Gul Makai, has been largely under–publicized. Based on Malala Yousafzai’s inspiring life story, the film is currently showing in cinemas but will soon be available to watch online. The box office is predicted to bring in around 25 lakhs, if all goes well.
