Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil starrer Pushpa has been receiving an incredible response from across the country. The film originally made in the Telugu language was also released in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. Although the movie performed well everywhere it played out- including in the southern states of Kerala and Karnataka- it is being heralded for its overwhelming performance at cinemas in northern India where it dominated theaters over other films playing out that week. People are hoping that this success bodes well for a sequel to be made available widely to viewers around India rather than just those who live south of New Delhi or Mumbai.
At the success event of Pushpa: The Rise Part 1, Allu Arjun said that they hoped for success by releasing the Hindi version of Pushpa and were pleasantly surprised at the outcome. We thought about releasing this film in Hindi- without doing too much publicity beforehand- just to see if it would convert at all. He continued on saying he could sense a growing interest from audiences over the past 5 years on YouTube.
Allu explained how the Hindi dubbed versions of south Indian movies have a higher viewership on Youtube than live-action Hollywood films. Who are these people all over in rural parts of India who continue to watch these films? He asks. Are they only watching them through satellite or youtube? Or do they even go out to see them at theaters?
I figured that since there are so many people around the world who watch my videos, they might want to come see me perform live in a theater setting. But it was still unclear whether or not these huge numbers would translate into physical attendance at movie theaters. With Pushpa, I tested these waters and thank goodness all of North India came out – because we’re not just friends on video anymore! You proved that you’ll go out of your way to meet me no matter what.
Allu Arjun also confirmed that with Pushpa 2 they plan on going bigger as far as languages are concerned, said Allu Arjun. We want to reach each and every language of the audience if possible, he continued. We want to reach your hearts, Allu Arjun finally concluded.
