As expected, both Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan saw an expected drop in collections on Friday. Since this was a regular day after the partial holiday of Rakshabandhan on Thursday, footfalls were bound to be reduced. Of course, one expected that the number will drop by around 20% since as it is Thursday collections for both the movies were below expectations. However, the drops were more, though for Raksha Bandhan it was lesser than Laal Singh Chaddha.
It may begin to show a notable shift in its performance from Sunday, since the response for Raksha Bandhan appears to be more promising than that of Laal Singh Chaddha. That being said, the numbers will soon start to become evident as that is what matters more than anything else in the present. The Akshay Kumar–led movie generated Rs. 6.40 crores on Thursday, thus bringing its cumulative collection to Rs. 14.60 crores. Even though it won’t touch the 10-crore benchmark on Friday, it is expected to achieve that goal by Sunday in order to keep its upwards trend going on Monday.
Laal Singh Chaddha has collected Rs. 11.70 crores on Thursday, and dropped to Rs. 7.26 crores. The Aamir Khan starrer is ahead of Raksha Bandhan on both days, yet it is important to analyze if the film is successful in terms of its performance. Presently, it stands at Rs. 18.96 crores, though it should have been higher if it had been released on its original date. To assess whether it can reach the milestone of double digit mark today, as that is vital for its progress over the extended five–day weekend.
