With thirty years in the film industry, Suniel Shetty has traversed multiple Indian film industries. He remarked that his main concern is not being confined to certain roles, but instead, playing it safe.
Suniel Shetty’sforay into Hindi cinema began in 1992 with the film Balwan and he soon established himself as an action star with his performances in movies like Mohra, Border, and Sapoot. Additionally, he also stepped into the world of comedy with movies such as Hera Pheri, Awaara Paagal Deewana, and went even further to explore villainous roles in films such as Main Hoon Na.
Suniel identifiedprimary obstacle was sticking to what is known and familiar. He elaborated that it wasn’t the particular material that posed the difficulty as much as the thought–process behind choosing it; things such as ‘only associating with XYZ’ and ‘determining the director’s background’. In other words, Suniel stated that these processes display a lack of trust in his own judgement.
At the of 59, the actor believes the current crop of performers should develop a unique aesthetic. He highlighted that risk-aversion should never be part of an actor’s toolkit. Shetty commended Tiger Shroff, Ayushmann Khurrana and Salman Khan for forging their own paths and paving the way to success. Moreover, he admired Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn for rising to the occasion and making a mark in the industry.
Suniel noteddue to his mistakes, people would not take a risk investing Rs 50 crore in his projects, yet Akshay Kumar could have a Rs 500 crore film produced. Shetty accepted his missteps, trusting that the experience gained from them would prove valuable to his son, Ahan, as he prepares for his debut.
