After much delay caused by the pandemic, Kabir Khan helmed film 83 was released on December 24th, 2021. While being nostalgic driven and focusing heavily on world cup during the year 1983 -the film featured Ranveer Singh starring as Kapil Dev leading his team to victory. On its opening day it had such good reviews and feedback that even though many people got sick, they showed up in droves; all looking forward to what would be hailed as one of India’s greatest achievements
In overseas markets too, 83 has done well. Released across 1512 screens in 80 countries, 83 made an opening collection of 1.57 million USD on its first day. It then went on to make an additional $1 million USD the next day for a total of $2.5 million USD at the close of Day 2. The latest figures indicate that 83 has now collected 4 million dollars abroad – an impressive feat considering its only been out for four days!
