Last week, the new film starring actor-writer-producer Alia Bhatt was released. Reviews for the film were mainly positive and within its first two days of release, it had already exceeded expectations at the box office – resulting in a good upward turn in profits. By the end of its first weekend, with further day one admissions from people who had not seen it yet combined with those who enjoyed it enough to watch again made up for what business may have diminished elsewhere because of stricter pandemic restrictions than before.
Today, Gangubai Kathiawadi has earned over Rs. 101 crores (approx $150 million) worldwide after making about Rs 105 crores ($163 million) domestically.
With Rs. 82 crores coming from the Indian markets and a further Rs. 20 crores from overseas territories, the total gross collections of this Alia Bhatt starrer, Gangubai Kathiawadi are currently pegged at Rs. 102 crores. If that wasn’t enough, given the film’s popularity among audiences and reception across international borders – it seems unlikely for this movie to stop growing any time soon; according to trade estimates which state an estimated increase over its second weekend in theatres.
While each cinema has been running at 100% capacity domestically – there is still plenty of room for this production company to grow until they reach full potential – after all, every single theatre has been guaranteed an occupancy status until February 28th- Sunday night!
