The Ajay Devgn-starring film, Drishyam (Hindi), earned Rs. 50 lacs or USD 700k during its opening weekend when it premiered in theaters 12 days ago at the China box office. Though films like this are typically seen bringing in earnings worth more than 100 crore rupees per day while they play at home, that hasn’t yet happened for Drishyam here because many viewers were deterred by the disease crisis caused by the Covid-19 virus.
But now on Day 12, things seem to be looking up a bit for the flick – it has grossed over Rs. 91 lakhs since opening weekend to date; though any major bump in viewership isn’t expected going forward as some parts of society remain under lockdown from the contagious disease and trade speculation predicts earnings will trickle in every so often but never increase exponentially going forth.
