Before chanting the Chalisa, it is important to understand the character of Hanuman Ji as his presence is especially crucial during Kali Yuga.
He is the 11th avatar of Shiva, fondly known as Rudrabatar, the provider of eight siddhis and nidhis. The Hanuman Chalisa is considered the quintessential law of the Kali Yuga, featuring the names of Sri Hanuman, all of which will be remembered when it is recited. This is one way to achieve the blessings of Hanuman Ji.
Rules of reciting Chalisa
It is recommended that before one recites the Hanuman Chalisa, they should first read the Shankat Suchak of Hanuman Ashtak.
Reciting the Chalisa while standing or while taking a bath are both acceptable ways to do so, however the best way to recite the Chalisa is by placing a Choki on the north-east side of a temple and spreading a red cloth or photo of Sri Hanuman’s blessings on top.
Following this, a Shree Bigre should be constructed, with a lamp of ghee placed in the middle, before one sits on an Ashan to recite the Chalisa as if Sri Hanuman were seated in front of them.
