Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha has been an abysmal failure since its release on August 11. It began its descent at the box office after its dismal first 6 days and this has been followed by further losses. Early estimations suggest that the film collected anywhere between Rs. 1.65 to 1.85 crores on Wednesday, amounting to a total opening week collection of Rs. 49.70 crores – significantly below expectations, thus proclaiming it a major disaster at the box office.
Laal Singh Chaddha, one of Aamir Khan’s lowest-grossing films, is estimated to make collections of less than Rs. 55 crores in its lifetime. Even when inflation is factored in, it would be equal to the collections made by Mela (2000) – another one of his financial disasters. In terms of current figures, its earnings will still not be as high as those brought in by Taare Zameen Par (2007).
Despite its triumph in the competition at the box office, Laal Singh Chaddha has also come out as the highest loser. Its final grossing will be about Rs. 10 crore more than Raksha Bandhan, but it’ll also incur losses that are four times greater than those of Akshay Kumar’s movie.
Aamir Khan’s movie Laal Singh Chaddha has been severely disdained by viewers, especially in metropolitan and rural regions. It is being cited as one of the greatest disasters in the last two decades, worst than even Mela. It could not reach the mark of Rs 50 crores due to the benefit of holiday season. If not for this advantageous timing, it would have made little to no money at all.
